COVID-19 and Summer Activities

Dear Parents,

Governor Kim Reynolds announced on June 10th that she is allowing businesses to open up to 100% capacity. However, she did also stress that social distancing is still going to be the norm as we move forward. It is good news that our economy will hopefully begin to rebound. However, if we start thinking that the pandemic is over, we will end up like some parts of our country, which have announced that they are returning to lockdown after experiencing a spike in the CO-VID 19 virus.

Logan-Magnolia will be opening up our school’s home summer sports season on June 16th with baseball and softball games vs. Underwood. We will still expect our fans to follow the following guidelines:

  1. Stay out of bleachers during games. You are asked to bring your own lawn chairs and to sit around the fields. Again, staying 6 feet apart.

  2. If staying 6 feet apart is not possible, you need to wear a mask.

  3. No physical contact with anyone.

  4. No concessions and no water fountain are available so bring your own drinks and snacks.

  5. Admission is $5.00, adults only, students are free. Please try to bring exact change.

  6. If you have a fever or other virus symptoms of the virus please do not attend.

It is important that all of us respect this virus. We can not get too comfortable and expect to get back to normal today. We have to look to the future. The goal is still to open school as normal on August 12th. Our school administrators have been working with teachers and staff on how we will return to school on August 12th. They are also working on alternative plans on opening school if the governor tightens the restrictions again. This may be a total shutdown again or some type of partial shutdown. (These alternative plans are required by the Iowa Department of Education). We do not want to do an alternative plan. Starting school with students in the building is what education is all about. Please practice social distancing and wear a mask if social distancing is not possible.

Have a great weekend,

Mr. Ridder
