Lunchtime is getting a fresh and flavorful makeover this year at Logan-Magnolia Community Schools.
The district has officially partnered with Taher, Inc., a professional food service management company, to take over and revitalize its K-12 dining program. District officials are gearing up to roll out the new, chef-led initiative, promising scratch-made meals and a fresh culinary approach for students.
"We are thrilled about the arrival of Taher and the enhanced dining experience their organization will provide for our students," said Jacob Hedger, Logan-Magnolia’s Superintendent.
A Focus on Scratch Cooking and Culinary Leadership
Family-owned and operated with over 45 years of experience in K-12 dining, Taher brings a unique "chef-driven" philosophy to the cafeteria. Rather than relying on prepackaged meals, the company emphasizes cooking from scratch every day using real, fresh ingredients.
Taher utilizes a national "Chef Council" that travels the world to find inspiration, develop fresh recipes, provides a variety of menu options daily, and gives way to a new menu of healthy and delicious offerings tailored for all ages. Because Taher believes every great decision starts in the kitchen, our school community can look forward to elevated, chef-crafted meals every day.
Beyond the Menu
The partnership aims to do more than just improve the taste of the food; it focuses on creating an engaging cafeteria environment where students can actively learn, participate in their culinary experience, and genuinely enjoy what they eat every day. Taher's approach includes:
Nourishing the Future: Chefs will mentor students and future culinarians through classroom programs and Career and Technical Education (CTE) partnerships.
Sustainability in Action: The program emphasizes smart sourcing, local partnerships, and waste-reduction strategies guided by their culinary team.
Innovation Labs: Taher actively tests and perfects new ideas to keep the menu exciting and boost student participation.
Looking Ahead For Students & Families
Students and parents can expect to see these new changes implemented as the district gears up for the upcoming school year, bringing a true "food experience" to the Lo-Ma cafeterias with students taking part in taste testing opportunities and being more involved in the ongoing meal selection process.
Each day, students can look forward to a Chef's House Classic option, a convenient Grab and Go choice, and a fresh fruit and vegetable bar. Here is a link to the August & September menus. Should your student have any food allergies, please complete our diet modification request form to ensure our food service team can accommodate your student's specific dietary needs for the school year.
For the upcoming school year, meal prices will undergo standard annual adjustments: PK–12 breakfast will increase from $2.00 to $2.10, while lunch will adjust from $2.70 to $2.90 for grades PK–5 and from $2.85 to $3.00 for grades 6–12.
